Discovering Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres: A Travel Agent's Insight

June 24, 2024

Caitlin recently attended a FAM (familiarization) trip to the new all-inclusive Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres. Hosted by Nancy Logan from ALG and Steve Philips from KORE, this four-day experience offered a first-hand look at this luxurious resort, which opened in February 2024.

Day 1: Arrival and First Impressions

Caitlin's journey began with an early flight, smooth navigation through Cancun airport, and a warm welcome from Amstar representatives. At Secrets Playa Blanca, she was greeted with champagne and a cold towel. The resort, featuring 507 suites, offered a seamless check-in experience in an air-conditioned preferred club area. Caitlin's room, with a tropical view and a glimpse of the ocean, was well-equipped with modern amenities.

Site Inspection and Dinner

The group toured the resort's various amenities, including restaurants, a tequila and wine tasting room, and a swim-up ocean view king suite. Although some facilities were still under construction, the jungle pool stood out. Dinner on the Terrace featured family-style appetizers, New York steak, and Catalan cream mousse for dessert.

Day 2: Resort Visits and Insights

The second day started with a diverse breakfast buffet and visits to four different resorts.

Xcaret

A family-friendly resort with 900 suites, offering adventure with a lazy river, inlet beaches, and a Michelin star restaurant, HA'. The vibe is adventurous and Instagram-worthy.

Impressions and Secrets Moxche Playa del Carmen

Both sides offered beautiful rooms, private swim-up pools, and impressive amenities like a rooftop infinity pool and a hidden speakeasy dance club. The atmosphere was elegant and relaxing.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya

Recently remodeled with swim-up pools and a vibrant atmosphere. It attracts a younger crowd and boasts the best beach with minimal seaweed.

Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun

A family-friendly resort with multiple pools, spacious rooms, and a calm atmosphere ideal for weddings and family vacations.

Day 3: Presentations and Leisure

The third day included a presentation by ALGV and resort representatives, followed by a relaxing afternoon by the pool. Despite slow service, the Bali beds and poolside relaxation were enjoyable.

Day 4: Departure

After a final breakfast, Caitlin and the group checked out and reflected on their experiences. The efficient transfer back to the airport by Amstar marked the end of the trip.

Overall Impressions

Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres promises to be a stunning resort as its vegetation matures. The friendly staff, strategic location free from seaweed issues, and preferred club benefits make it a worthwhile destination. This FAM trip allowed Caitlin to explore various resorts and provide better recommendations to clients, each catering to different traveler needs, from families to luxury seekers.
